As a part of the 64th edition of March festival – Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival, domestic audience will have the opportunity to see the premiere of the documentary about Marina Abramović, one of the world’s most famous performance artist.
The Space in Between: Marina Abramovic and Brazil (Brazil, 2017, running time 86 minutes), was directed by Marco del Fiol, and the screening is scheduled for Friday, 31 March at 9 p.m. in the Grand Hall of the Belgrade Youth Center.
In search of personal healing and artistic inspiration, Marina Abramović travels through Brazil experiencing sacred rituals and revealing her creative process. The route is comprised of poignant encounters with healers and sages from the Brazilian countryside, exploring the limits between art and spirituality. The film features healing sessions with the medium John of God, herb healers, spiritual rituals, strength of religious syncretism, shamanic processes and energy of crystals in various parts of Brazil. This external trip triggers in Marina a profound introspective journey through memories, pain and past experiences. As a mixture between road movie and spiritual thriller, this documentary brings an unprecedented approach to the intimate creative process of one of the most important artists of today.
